OUR ARCHITECTURAL ANIMATION PROCESS

We have different workflows depending on whether there is a storyboard and materials provided. We have broken down our storyboards into 2 workflows, one with and one without.

Spotworks has developed an unique process to expedite 3D renderings to our clients. We work in a 4 step process that follows:

Step 1: Kick Off Meeting / Email
The Kick – Off Meeting or/and Kick – Off Emails are used to introduce our team to the key decision makers of your project. We will discuss the overall direction of the project, desired outcomes, specify roles and responsibilities on both sides, and review the project schedule.

Step 2: 1st Cut Draft
We will propose wireframe camera path based on the storyboard. It will include animation texts and footage stitching where necessary. Client shall comment on camera paths. Changes and feedback will be implemented before moving on to step 3.

Step 3: 2nd Cut Draft
We will have revised camera path as per clients comments, and will include rendered frames of each scene for client to review overall materials, textures and lighting. Music track and fonts will be added at this stage as well.

Step 4: Final Animation
The fully rendered video with post production works will be delivered to you!

* If a storyboard is not provided, there will be a meeting after the initial exchange (Step 1) which will include the delivery of a proposed storyboard including thumbnail and client comments.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When can you start a project?

Once we receive the final files (refer to checklist) and an approved quote, our project team will reference our project schedule and share a proposed work schedule with you. The proposed schedule will include the dates for the different stages of edits. This will be based on client’s expected delivery date.

What are your timelines

Once we finalise the details, our team will move forward with producing the animation. The timeline for completion will vary depending on the number of process cuts your project requires:

  • 4 to 6 weeks minimum for overall animation completion.
  • 1st cut will take approximately 1 week
  • 2nd cut approximately 1-2 weeks
  • Final animation high resolution rendering with post production work will take about 3 to 4 weeks

What happens if we don't get our comments in within the 24 hour period?

We kindly ask that you do your best to get back to us in 24 hours or less – this ensures that we can meet your milestones and deadlines. For Spotworks, it is about having enough time to provide our clients with our best works. Prolonged or delayed response time may reduce the number of previews or delay the final delivery of renders.

Once feedback is provided, how soon can we see a preview of the updated animation?

We will do our best in providing an update image within the timeframe mentioned above, from the time the feedback is given to us. However, this time frame may be longer for more complex changes. Rest assured, we will always communicate the time frame needed for our team in advance.

Why is there a limit on preview rounds?

Our process allows our clients to see multiple previews. However, we are also keeping our artists focused on the quality of art by reducing the amount of time spent rendering our previews. Therefore, we limit our rounds of previews per image to 2 – 3 rounds.

When it comes to comments and feedbacks, we ask that you be as comprehensive in the comments as possible. This is to ensure all comments will be captured in the previews. With each preview, there is no limit on the number of comments you can make, as long as it adheres to the work completed within that preview. Having these said, if you know in advance that you will require additional design flexibility, do notify us and we can discuss how to best accomodate your needs.

What if I need the animation sooner than the proposed delivery date?

To ensure the best results, our team will need the appropriate amount of time. It is always our goal to make our clients look good

However, there are a few things we can do to expedite the process:

  • Ensure communication between our team and yours is concise and quick. The more responsive our clients are to the drafts issued, the quicker we can get working on the changes.
  • Reduce the number of revisions.
  • Refine the overall scope of works.
  • For projects with multiple scenes/contents, discussion of phasing our delivery of different parts is also an option.

What if I need an animation done urgently?

Emergency requests will be accepted on a per case basis and will be assessed based on our available capacity. All emergency jobs will be billed on a separate rate.
